Our Savior Lutheran Church & Campus Ministry is searching for a choir director educated in ensemble singing to lead our amateur singers to become stronger musicians and form them into a unified choral ensemble to lead the congregation.
The candidate should have excellent interpersonal skills, seek musical excellence, and have a forgiving nature. The director should able to challenge the choir at the appropriate level and inspire members to offer their best. It’s essential that the choir director is able to nurture the choir’s understanding of the role of music in liturgy and worship to support and enrich the community’s worship experience. The candidate should appreciate and be willing to experiment with a range of musical styles and to encourage and incorporate a variety of volunteer instrumentalists when possible.
Our choir currently rehearses on Sunday mornings at 9:15, prior to our 10:30 worship (September – early June). They sing most Sundays and on some of the high holidays. The choir director works closely with the pastor, music director, organist, and other musicians in planning upcoming music and serves on the worship team, which meets monthly.
The average weekly commitment is 4 hours, September through early June. Salary range, depending upon qualifications, is $15-20/hour.
