Reasons to Hope

In response to this past Sunday’s sermon, Kathy Phipps rewrote the lyrics to the song that Pastor Kyle referenced. Kathy has given us permission to share these lyrics with you. May you measure this past year in reasons to hope.

Reasons to Hope

Five hundred twenty seven thousand five people
Five hundred twenty seven thousand five people so dear
Five hundred twenty seven thousand five people

How did we measure, measure this year?

In uncles, in aunties, in grandpas and grammies too
In cousins, in siblings, in friends and coworkers too

In five hundred twenty seven thousand five people
Five hundred twenty seven thousand five journeys have ended
How did we measure this COVID year?

How about hope?
How about hope?
How about hope?

Measure in hope.

Reasons to hope.
Reasons to hope.

Five hundred twenty seven thousand five people
Five hundred twenty seven thousand five journeys ended
Five hundred twenty seven thousand five people

How do you measure the life of a woman or a man?

In masks that they wore?
Or alone as they cried?
In hands sanitized?
Or that anyway they died?

It’s not time yet to go out
Though it’s almost at an end

While we wait to celebrate the life of friends

Remember to hope…..
(Oh, you’ve got to you’ve got to remember to hope)
Remember to hope…..
(You know that hope is a gift from up above)
Remember to hope…..
(Share hope, give hope, live hope, measure your life in hope.)
Reasons to hope…
Reasons to hope…
